^ Colours, shades and tones for which art strives. At first sight, I thought I saw the waves moving.

TRO what camera do you use for your sunset photos? And do you use long exposure on a tripod? They are superb!

I have a Fujifilm GFX 100s - it’s a medium format digital camera so a super sized sensor that captures amazing colour and detail. The downside is rubbish autofocus, slow frame per second and everything’s big and heavy compared to say a Nikon or a Canon but I only really like doing landscapes so that’s not an issue for me.
I like Fuji cameras because they have film simulation modes that replicate some of the classic films made by Fuji. The sunsets/rises are shot with the ‘Velvia’ simulation - Velvia was an old slide film known for extraordinary punchy and saturated colours hence I get very colourful sunrises/sunsets.
Hope that helps!

Also, no tripod for today’s, generally if the sun is above horizon it’s ok without, if it’s below then usually a tripod needed. I shoot with one stop underexposure with a bracket of 3 so effectively the shots are at 0, -1 and -2. Digital is great because you can pick the best and zap the others.

Thank you, yes! That explains the saturation for a start that is a lovely camera. I have thought about photographing the black mountains here with a plate camera. For landscape, long exposure is key in my view.

I under expose everything by at least one stop on my phone. It washes everything out otherwise... I have a Sony alpha-600 or is it 6000? But haven't used it since Covid for some reason...

I started with Minolta back in the day and ended with Sony as Sony basically bought out Minolta. I sold all the Sony kit, it just didn’t inspire me even though it was a technical marvel (Sony A7) and started with Fujilfilm and it’s brought the love back.

I used to have Nikons. I admit, the Sony doesn't inspire me either. I bought it back in 2018, to take on my mountainbike safari in Tanzania... It seemed the right thing at the time. The best for my budget but I have never warmed to it... Maybe I should sell it and buy a large format film camera un stead... I have always fancied a Hasselbladt...
