I thought about including Chrissie as a 'should have but didnae'.

B&gger. One more vote for the non Spoty entry and we could have seen off Golden Balls.

That's a shame.

Mary Denise Rand, MBE is a former English track and field athlete. She won the long jump at the 1964 Summer Olympics by breaking the world record, the first British female to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field. She remains the only Great Britain female athlete to win three medals in a single Games.

Couple of ties if you could ‘engineer’ Grep:

Cousins vs Curry

And, of course,
Coe vs Ovett.

David Steele only got 5 votes! Come on people! Not only did he single handedly not quite save us from Ashes humiliation, but he did it wearing glasses 40 years before Jack Leach made it trendy. And he managed to get lost on his way from the dressing room to the pitch. Got to be worth a few votes more than some Scottish bloke with unfeasibly large thighs?
