Nah, all kids stuff tomorrow - school fete, shinty, climbing wall and dance class. Racing the train would probably have been suitable grounds for divorce.

Passed by SoaPM once in the early stage of Alloa Half this morning, but then spent most of the race watching him steadily disappear into the distance ahead of me!

Looked like it was good racing conditions for Alloa (although I'm sure some would still complain it was too warm). How did the event go? Did the new road closures work well?
(Vale of Leven yesterday - looks like the conditions really slowed people down -25th percentile was 56:57; 75th percentile was 1:06:21: in last year's race 25th %ile was 54:44 and 75th %ile was 1:01:28

I found it too hot, but I don’t think I handle the heat that well.
Roads were good, although a few of us had to swerve to avoid two little old ladies slowly crossing the closed road through Menstrie. They actually waited on the Green Man at a crossing point (despite there being no cars), and then ambled into the flow of runners. No harm done, and it did make me chuckle.

Hi Fergus, I think the heat hit us both today. The organisation at Alloa was pretty good, in all honesty, everything seemed good to me. A little surprised when we took a different route at Menstrie just before the hill I don't know if that would be shorter or not

Nearly 10% of the finishers over 2:30: fifty people taking over 2:50, eighteen of those over three hours. That would normally be a handful. Maybe I underestimated the effect the conditions would have :-o.
And nearly 40% DNS - even with the date change, since some measures were put in place to ameliorate that, a really high percentage. I wonder if there were a lot of people who had kept their entry, but run Edinburgh and just didnae fancy it all over again.
(Or they may jsust have been people who couldn't face snatchin the Christmas presents from the hands of needy bairns.)

Surprised myself by (just!) scraping under 1:30 at Alloa. Hottest race I can remember. Very well organised and supported as ever.

I’m surprised there was a 40% drop out. The start zone seemed very full to me. I’m not sure where the others would have gone if they’d shown up.
