I'm a year late, it did not happen in 2017. It is going to happen in 2018 but a couple of weeks later than its typical calendar slot. Anyway it's still an unattractive race route . I think dodging around wheelie bins at the back of some shops in the final 150m was the low point |

I spent ages trying to find that finish once, a loading bay at the back of some shops, horrible. Anyway, the first 5k today after my ultra, it wisnae good. |

I was looking forward to Alloa this weekend but have heard something about hills and head winds, is it really as bad as everyone has told me? 🤷🏽♀️

It can be, but the forecast for this Sunday says that the wind will be mostly behind you on the Hillfoots Road from Tillicoultry to Menstrie

If it is a headwind on the day, it's usually easy enough to tuck in behind the crowd for some shelter.

I just checked the forecast as well - a tailwind along the Hillfoots! 15-20 mph. Four years out of five, that's a headwind. I've run it in up to 35 mph headwind - with snow . Although that does mean a headwind for the final stretch. Looks cold enough for snow at race time, though likely to be dry. Be lovely if there was some on the Ochils. As for the hills: probably not quite as hard as you have heard, really. Don't use it all up on Menstrie Brae though (10 miles), there's more to come through Tullibody, and that catches a lot of people out. |

Well there will certainly be people in front of me although not sure about tucking in behind them! Thanks for the tips. Just have to take it as a marathon training run 😊

Yeah, last year and maybe the one before were tough with a headwind. If its behind you on the stretch that will be a bonus, its then get up the hill at 10 miles and a lovely downhill finish to nail a PB
