If you are off to Shetland for Simmer Dim Ally-C, I can recommend a nice loop on the moor above Lerwick about 12.30 am if you have the energy. Easy to see your way but eerie in the half light.

That sounds good, can you pm me please, I’m off to hit the hay just now, thanks very much. We are there Wednesday to Monday.

Just been thinking we aren’t taking a car, how far out is this route?

Was a good night Ally. It’s not a huge distance, but I really did feel that I’d earned my post-run fish supper!

New trail race, part of the Blackford Highland Games - just under 6 miles.

Nice route, lovely sunny day, spoilt by a very slight niggle at back of left knee developing into something a bit worse, so had to just jog back the last 2 miles.

Very small field, as was just announced a few days ago, only 13 runners.

Recommend for next year

There might be double the field next year, K5 Gus :-) For the VERY keen, the British Championship Hill Race is at the Alva Games on July 9th. It is a ridiculous hill.

More locally, the Strathcarron Hospice 10K returns to Denny this October (even before Covid, it had moved not very successfully to the University of Stirling for a couple of years). I should be very pleased, but ... the suggested fundraising target is £100. No way could I raise that. Nor, tbh do I want to. So I'd feel pretty uncomfortable taking a place (@ £18 entry) with no intention of raising the amount.

Anyway, here's the blurb if anyone wants a look register.enthuse.com

Actually, has anyone here ever participated in the track running or cycling events at a Highland/ Lowland/ Borders Games?

Never have Dvorak, though the Nairn Half finishes with a lap of the games track in front of a healthy crowd. With occasional diversions if a pipe band passes by.

I'm off to the Blair Castle games tomorrow. Looks more focused on the heavy stuff. I didn't look too hard to see if there was a hill race.
