I’m not doing the xc I was injured when the names had to go in. The course has been changed, maybe because of flooding ? We saw how wet it was for the Falkirk ultra and it’s hardly stopped raining since then.

I don't know that XC ever gets cancelled. I've never heard of it, in 12 or 13 years of doing them. Falkirk particularly being in a proper town park might be an exception because of the damage it could do. But they seem to have just accepted it will be a bit trashed after. It's nearly spring - it will recover quickly.

But tomorrow is going to be a proper mud bath! :-) G

National should be cancelled right now. Comical that they are even considering going ahead in current conditions

Can’t see it being cancelled. There’s nothing dangerous about mud and water. It will be super tough but these are the National Championships and the field consists of club runners and elite athletes. Everyone who’s entered knows what to expect It’s not a fun run.

Why Zorbs? No one will die. The park will be a mess. Grass will grow back. So...?

It's not the race itself, it's people travelling to the event safely, putting up gazebos in 50mph winds and standing on the course marshalling...

I'd agree with that. Motorways in Falkirk and Stirling area M80/M876/M9 like rivers today - flooded badly with one or both lanes closed in places - not quite as bad as last Saturdays closures. Driving conditions treacherous and don't look they are going to get any better. 50mph winds + heavy snow forecast for Falkirk tomorrow morning according to BBC. Safe trip and good luck to anyone venturing out.
