It's lambs liver. Dusted in seasoned flour and pan fried in butter. Tasted much better than it looks. The mash was dry, nice, but dry. Mrs N doesn't like liver, so she had lamb chops with gravy. Normally do some fried onions as a side, with balsamic vinegar. Couldn't be arsed last night, settled for a dollop of brown sauce.

Joking apart I would need gravy with that. I'm not a fan of mash

I sometimes make a very sloppy mash (Pomme purée), mini Nico prefers it. But she isn't home so yesterday's was drier, just butter, no cream. Can't imagine fried liver with gravy?

Already planning next Thursday's tea. Haggis pie! There will definitely be gravy then.

Haggis pie?! Looking forward to seeing that. I'm making a big pan of ratatouille, which might look bright and cheerful

I would have gravy, but not liver.

In the past I've made pastry topped haggis pie. Planning a more cottage pie style dish, topped with mashed swede and potato. Debating if I should include a shot of whisky in the gravy?

When not drinking, we never count wine used in cooking as all the alcohol gets burned off.

It's all personal but I will eat food that's cooked with wine. I'll take a portion of tiramu too

Yes. My mate's dad, Ted, was a Methodist lay preacher and lifelong teetotaller - but he enjoyed a bowl of sherry trifle.

And that's my benchmark!

My late mother-in-law disapproved of drinking, but loved a glass of sherry. I don't think she realised it was actually quite strongly alcoholic. She also drank Bailey's at Christmas, again, probably not thinking it was booze!
