I'll be damned if I can see anything to laugh about. If that kind of crazy misinformation is doing the rounds as a society we've got a problem. Because there are idiots out of there who really do believe it.

I'm with you on this, NE. I was listening to a report on a conference that took place a few weeks back in, I think, Derbyshire, attended by some ex-UKIP candidates and some former MPs Tory and Reform) and this was the thrust of one of the speakers. Parties and politicians which used to be mainstream are now either embracing, or at least not resisting the spread of, these crackpot theories.

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
Yes, it would be funny if it wasn't so ridiculous and causing division and daft behaviours.

My FIL was telling me the other day that his cousin has went down the YouTube conspiracy theories rabbit hole.
I recall him coming away with this cracker, paraphrasing a bit. This country has went to the dogs & full of immigrants. I wish I’d went to Australia years ago 😂

It doesn't help that we have charismatic, convincing people posting on YouTube and similar apps speaking well - compared to our newsreaders who often appear to struggle to read an autocue, and so come off sounding unconvincing and untrustworthy.
I can understand why many fall for the nonsense, especially when the theories being given "explain" why their lives aren't as great as they expected.

The Chemtrails one always gets me. For it to be true, and it's clearly not, who would have to be involved?
So the people at the top who have decided to do it, obviously. So that's all the world governments working together in perfect secrecy and unity. You know, like they do all the time which is why there are never wars or even trade disputes.
Then all the airline pilots everywhere. All of them.
Then there's staff at every airport worldwide all the time refuelling the planes with whatever chemicals are necessary, either deliberately or just without knowing what they're doing, but knowing it's not actually fuel because that's presumably a different tanker.
Then there's staff at chemical plants all over the place producing the stuff, and truck drivers delivering it, and security keeping it quiet, and admin staff keeping records of financial arrangements and shipments and raw materials etc.
And all of these people live in the world that's being screwed over by the chemtrails and have families and friends who they're happy to a) sacrifice and b) never tell?
And that's quite apart from the fact that it would affect them too, and they're all cool with that, presumably for The Greater Good?
Hmm.

People seem to be losing the capacity for critical thinking... Who is telling me this? What are their credentials? Where is their evidence? The truth has no defence against a fool determined to believe a lie.

What you’re missing though, JB, is that every single person who has confused causation and correlation has died, or will do in the next several decades.
Explain that.😜
