Cerrertonia 7 Apr 11:20am, 7 Apr 2025 22,994 posts	Quote Pin Cerrertonia It being an absolute corker of a day probably helps, but so far this morning: - The driver of a random car that my wife and her friend flagged down while they were out running, stopped and helped them to get an escaped ewe & 2 lambs off the main road and back into the field. - The two very cheerful blokes from Northern Powergrid who turned up (unexpectedly) to prune one of my trees to stop it getting up to the powerline commented on how nice the garden was and how they felt like they were on holiday working outside in the dales on a day like today. - The Evri delivery driver joked that he'd been over to America personally to fetch the parcel my wife got today. - Three separate groups of ladies, all older than me, all with a copy of the Herriot Way guidebook, all stopped for a little chat.

He was very pleasant to spend a couple of hours with, swapping stories. Also on the LDWA, as soon as people spotted me with my shoes and socks off at a checkpoint, they offered me plasters, blister gel etc without hesitation. I was fine, but thanked them very much!

And all I could say was, "I love your patchwork trousers; wherever did you get them?" I fear he won't be posting on this thread 😬

He gave me a stupidly cheap quote and said whatever it costs him, he'll honour the silly price he's given us, as we have given him so much business through recommendations. Lovely man.
