I'll be honest, Dvorak, it's rather more for the Walkman when I'm training and the Instamatic when I'm "tourist marathonning" rather than for the functionality of a phone, as such (not sure when I last made a phone call). A smaller (although not necessarily cheaper, my phone was only £150) phone would do it, but that's an extra layer of faff and a considerable expense compared to an appropriate pair of shorts.

Not got these, but they look good, with one big pocket all the way around the waistband. It doesn't say how deep the pocket is, but looks like it would take a phone ok

I should add that my alternative has been to run with my iPhone (in its protective cover) in my hand. That way I take photos as well.

Good call Gus. That's certainly cheaper than buying a new smartphone.

Decathlon do a hand holder for a phone, just in case your naturally-provided hand holding device is insufficient.

Just remembered I have a pair of Gore three-quarter length tights that have huge mesh pockets on the sides (as well as a zip pocket on the back). I've done a search, and I'm not sure they do them any more, which is a shame as I really like them (and the current ones have worn through at the undercarriage :-/

A spibelt is your answer? Doesn't flip, just has a zip at the front and holds a phone, gels, keys, elephants* etc. Amazing piece of kit. spibelt.co.uk

Now, I might actually have a spibelt somewhere. Not sure why I haven't used it, actually.

Still an extra thing to remember to pack, though. An all-in-one solution would be so much more elegant, don't you think?

Does it need to be shorts ? What about shirts with pockets ?

waa-ultra.com

Or what about cycling tops, most have 3 pockets at the back, some have one of those pockets with a zip ( and one of mine even has the zipped pocket as waterproof )

I use the Ron Hill Infinity shorts. More pockets than you can shake a stick at. The zipped one at the back is quite big. I can get my iPhone in there plus my keys & an energy bar.

Sorry I can’t send a link. To be honest, I don’t know how to.

I've done a quick search, and the only question about pockets was from 4 years ago. Ironically,...
