First, as Some made the break they both agreed that he was going much too early and this was basically a naive tactical move. 5 miles later they're praising his bravery as he powers on towards the victory. During those few miles we got the incredible insight that "If the chasers don't close that gap I think he's going to win this." So that's how races work. Suddenly this trying-to-run-faster-than-everyone-else thing makes a lot more sense.

Only the French would have that many people walk across the Arc de Triomphe junction whilst it was still open to traffic !
