Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Two nights (I think, maybe three) ago when I got up to go to bed I felt a little discomfort in the area I am pointing at. I have subsequently felt this discomfort when weight bearing, walking or running, and it more discomfort than outright pain but is more uncomfortable today than before. Was worse when i stopped running and walked the last 300m home thi morning. OH is certain she can see bruising but I don't remember banging it? Any ideas CT or anybody else? Don't know if it may have any bearing but did start using cleats on bike last Friday.

Thanks.

Origon of the peroneal tendon, where it inserts into the peroneal muscle, if there is bruising it will be where the muscle joins the tendon, this is good as it will heal.

Traditionally this injury is a marker of shoes that are too controlling, ie nuetral feet in stability shoes. But it also could reflect lateral landing. ... where do your shoes wear?

They wear on outside of heel. Have alwayasworn shoes for moderate to mild pronation as advised 7000 odd miles ago. Thanks

I reckon it's most likely your cleats setup. I had all kinds of problems when I first started using them getting the setup right. Most importantly angle them to the way your feet natural fall. So, possibly pointing your feet ever so slightly outwards. I wear my shoes in the same place as yours & need my cleats outwards.

P.S. I was initially advised stabilty shoes by first running shop but am very definitely a neutral runner who supinates.

P.P.S. I have made that confusing. My feet point slightly outwards, my cleats slightly inwards. Hope that makes sense. Took me a while to get my head round it all!

Yes out pointing toes like Charlie Chaplin, but not as much, would help protect it

I have developed very bad pain in almost the exact same spot this week....
I felt ok running yesterday but the pain crescendoed after 3 miles or so and I limped home after 6 miles.

In pain all day today.

I did slightly go over that ankle at the end of a 13 mike run last Saturday, but was fine the next day - did 83 mike bike and 4 mile bick.
Sore at end of run Monday.
Sore running wed so stopped after a few minutes, but felt fine by Friday - hence running...but regretting that today.

Cable tow - any thoughts?
