Hi Fetchies I did my first Ultra at the weekend and am now hooked. I do however need a bigger pack though as my current one is only really good for a hydration bladder plus maybe an apple. (Camelbak Octane XCT) I need advice on a suitable pack for (up to) 50m trail running. It needs to carry minimal of stuff (lightweight waterproof, a thin top, maybe a light hat and gloves and some food). I would rather it have a hydration bladder but am open to suggestions (those ones with bottles at the front maybe?) Obviously it needs to be very snug on my back with no movement. If the race was one with a "kit list" then I would need something bigger still, but for now just the above would be ideal. If it helps I am a "bog standard" medium, 5ft 10ins, 30 waist. Any suggestions/advice much appreciated. cheers Chris |

I love my Osprey Raptor 10. I think they're actually for mountain-biking. Bladder, small and large pocket and 2 mesh holdy things at the side.

I've got a small, so you would probably need to look at the medium.

I did a 38M ultra with an OMM last drop 10 and bought a 2litre hilly bladder for it (it does have space for 2 x 500ml bottles in side puches but I prefer a bladder. I'm 5ft 9.5in and 32inch waist if I breathe in. Best bit of kit I've ever bought and use it when running to work carrying lunch/keys/wallet/trousers and top. I allso bught the clip on waist pack which has another 3l of pack and 500ml bottle puch on but never needed to use that yet |

I've got a Deuter Speedlite. it's OK, but...: You have to take the bladder out of the pack to refill it. En race, this was an inconvenience (rather than actually being difficult). It doesn't have any waist belt pockets, so I had nowhere easily accessible to store on the move supplies. But it was cheap and comfy enough. |

Salomon S-lab hydro 12-set, or smaller 5-set. Stupidly expensive, but working well for me. No bladder included, but you can add one. I like the soft bottles; others hate them. I'm 5'10", 30" waist. It comes in 3 sizes I think. |
