Top the egg custard tart with a custom baked Eccles cake, before committing to the inside of a toasted teacake?

Belém - is that part of Lisbon? It's a very well set up website - I was interested in the English influences, no doubt resulting from trade in days of youre. :)

It is a district of Lisbon. Aside from the famous bakery there are the tourist destinations of Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and views across the Tagus including the Ponte 25 de Abril. Wish I was there.

Last port of call on an educational cruise in 1967 was Lisbon. I remember the statue to Prince Henry the Navigator, and rows of shops, many of which would not have been out of place in post-WW2 London. I bought a pipe for my grandfather, and a folding writing case for my Mum. I think it was decorated with shields of Portuguese district or provinces.

The bridge would have been brand new then, albeit with a different name.

And iirc the memorial monument to Portuguese submariners. Actually it may have been a war memorial for all Portuguese mariners, it was quite big. Also home to Club Futbol Os Belenenses.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
