Cat, I do think one can be efficient running while barefoot as long as their body POSEition remains properly aligned :-)

What has happened to the missing 57,000 plus posts on this thread?

I think there was a fairly recent study (probably linked to in the deleted posts) that seemed to indicate that the runners tested ran slightly less efficiently when barefoot rather than in lightweight shoes. Surprising? A similar study (by the same people?) indicated that lighter shoes are better for efficiency than heavier shoes. Not surprising!

gutted to see the minus -57000 posts notification for the thread :(

That thread got me running again when I couldnt, though I originally posted on Santa's "learning to run again" as MER was a bit boisterous at the time

I agree with Shanksi about heavy versus light weight shoes.

When I swap from heavy to light it's like fitting a turbo charger :)

Santa - this is the MER thread as its still on my watch list, FETCH must have trimmed it to make it lighter and more efficient ;)

James - I thought the number on my notification started with a -5, had lots of numbers after it and I just assumed Glenn was right

the lighter weight shoes thing seems self evident, all my shoes are pretty lightweight its just me thats not very efficient
