The great dollop
I was on high-fat/low-carb since 2016 (ref Dietdoctor.com) so was effectively gluten reduced, with only one piece of bread at a sitting sort of thing (eggs on toast etc).

Then BIG MISTAKE - had some big bowl of pasta at start of june. totally gone for four days / lethargic / brain / guts / everything / mood.

Turns out Gluten if it gets in your bloodstream can block your dopamine receptors. (Main pathway is through gut wall, you don't have to be Celiac for that to happen, even a mild inability to digest it well)

So not depressed - but no dopamine received isn't much fun. very meh. for four days.

Have a read of the last paragraph on Gluten on wikipedia - it seems almost throwaway - but implicated in a massive range of neurogenic diseases from when you get old (dementia, parkinsons etc).

So, decided to stay off gluten until I felt worse.

and I have felt nothing but better since.

After two weeks I almost had what I can only describe as a nervous overload - as if all my signals were on extra power, but my receivers for a change were fully aware and everything was overstimulated. Took about 48hrs to calm down back to normal !

I have transgressed a few times - with minor gut responses - but no dips in energy, didn't bring back any underlying inflammation/water retention either.

Oh and my god - am I sleeping better too !!

(footnote, I'm in my early fifties and this has been a twenty year hunt for a root cause to all the above symptoms. Diet doctor helped, but this final exclusion has been the magic bullet)
(footnote 2 - probably time for people to start a diet for over 30's, like we do for old cats and dogs...)
If you're feeling googly, look up the sinclair labs at Harvard and their research into ageing.

Good luck !!!
And yes - on topic - will try to make some GF mincepies...

I didn't eat them all on the same day, that's a week's worth. I'm making some of my own today.
