I'm finding with a lot of routes Synge that they were created with some eagerness for the Millennium celebrations and then have not had any maintenance done since so they just fade into obsolescence.

Interesting. I suppose the OS have to make quite a lot of judgements over what to recognise and what to ignore.

I always feel a bit disappointed when I research a named path and find that I can’t find a guide to it online anywhere. Sometimes, if it is all in one county, there’s a pdf of a long-out-of-print leaflet available to print out, but there are often subsequent changes on the ground to contend with.

I've done parts of it in Cheshire and Shropshire, quite a few years ago. There was some waymarking, but not enough to be relied upon (e.g. places where the obvious route goes straight on, but you turn off, and there's no signage). I guess the Offa's Dyke Path attracts a lot of the 'traffic'.

There's one round here (well not too far) called the High Weald Landscape Trail which is signposted from Horsham train station. It looks like you're going to be in for a well laid-out path but no... the signs disappear. We gave up on that as even the extant signs often didn't match the (out of print) guidebook.

I found one on Amazon for £158.94. that's 94p too much for my liking! I'm sure I've seen this or something similar in my local library now too. I'd be interested to the see the route/gpx now.

A bit of a cheat this one. It is on the Cuckoo Trail, an old railway now cycle trail, but isn’t an official sign. Made me smile though.
