Nobody on here is a Pirie, anybody who follows that would have a tough time.

I don't think the intervals are that tough TBH, they are balls out at all. Obviously the HR number rely on a max near 200 which is an issue for all inclusiveness.
Pirie's paces are not what you'd be doing.

Fair point about no one being a Pirie though.

I think with a good base you could build to that type of training. I reckon once pirie started doing that he'd already run a good few miles in his time. Remember Hadd base training is just about getting fit enough to do some "real" training.

Hadd crucial base rep session, which I posted a few pages back, could be an entry level Pirie session.
" 100-100 is how we refer to striding 100m at a pace somewhere between 400-800m PR pace and then (without stopping to walk) going straight into 100m easy in 40-45s.
That would be 1 x 100-100.
Without walking at any time, run this 10 times in succession: ie: 10 x 100-100, alternating quick and easy reps of 100m."
Pirie's would eventual be harder as you add more volume/distance.

Don't understand why 'pirie' would mean having a tough time. Not sure he's prescribing a set schedule. In fact he says beware of doing these sessions when tired, and he still talks of doing long runs. Its just not long runs all the time.

But maybe I think that cause I haven't tried one of these sessions yet.

I did 10 x 100m with 90, then the next week 20 x 100m last year with around 90 sec at one point, the sessions were good, I ran the couple of miles back home after. A couple of days after the 20, I did my longest training run ever. I didn't do them again due to an XC race, then get ill after, then basically not feeling fit enough. I plan to do then around end of Jan probably till about Mar/Apr this year.
