Not a good race for me. Set off around the 4 hour pacer but he seemed to be going too quick. I was holding back a bit but still within the pace an he was getting further away. I later heard he finished 7 minutes early! Not that it affected me though, I had a horrible second half, the heat really got to me, felt like I was going to pass out for a while. Struggled home in 4:29 for my 10th marathon finish of the year. Plenty of rest needed before the next I think.

Well done to all - it was a hot day wasn't it! I did the half, got a PB and am thrilled. Meant to do the full but wasn't as well as I needed to be for the full marathon so arranged to finish at the half instead, the right call on the day and happy memories of the weekend. Just had a nice recovery three mile run in my Nottingham top

Took it easy again this year, not as hot as last year and not as windy round the lake. Seemed to be more water available just a shame more people didn't take advantage of it as it appeared more people needed medical attention this year. Third time I've done it my best time and no cramps this year!

Those water pouches were a bit tricky, took me a while to get the hang of them! Felt like trying to milk a cow whilst running along. Managed to squirt loads of it all over me at regular intervals. Some great Marshall's too, one who fell over right at the start as she tripped on a barrier, I hope she was alright, she was trying to corral the kids for the mini marathon.

Lots of water points was a definite plus. The water pouches, when they worked, were brilliant, although sometimes they were temperamental little bastards. At times no amount of squeezing or biting would release the water!

hahha yes the water pouches , a guy near me got complety covered when a guy next to him decided to squeeze it really hard t0o try and break the seal as the marshall hadn't done it , I tried to rip the top of at the 12 mile water point but gave up and chucked it away in the end , a friend parked her car close to the first water station which had been really well cleared and you would never have known we'd all been there only 2 hours previous chucking the half drunk empties everywhere , a good inbetween a plastic bottle and cup just a shame some of them weren't opened

They had them for people at the finish line when I did the Birmingham Black Country half once so I new what to expect. Will go and have a read of your race day, Clare.
