damo, I've done a couple of the relay legs, so ran them fresh.

Leg 3, from Rowardennan, is the most technical section, 14.1 miles and 517m ascent. Took me 2:13 and I was in about 1:25 half marathon shape then. Try and recce this leg !!

Leg 4, from Beinglas, 11.6 miles and 495m ascent, took me 1:49, was in similar shape.

You'll be starting leg 3 with about 27 miles already in your legs, so keep plenty in the tank, and get plenty calories in.

I've finished and started four times.

The first leg is easy but I've fallen into the trap and expended too much energy. This year I intend on taking it really easy.

Leg 3 is difficult and again you can waste energy fighting it. Just go with the flow.

Leg 4 should be easy but you've already got forty plus miles in your legs.

I'd recommend doing training on monkey bars. Or an old fashioned leather top horse in the gym! :-O The middle section (Rowardennan to Beinglas) has so much scrambling, upper body and core strength, and ability to climb up and jump down, have as much to do with how fast you can do it, as any running ability!

Think Parkour, with rocks!

You'll ace it though Damo. 7 hours, 7:30 maybe?! You were only 19 mins slower at Jed than Lee Kemp and he won Fling in 2015 in 7:0x ? :-) G

Don't forget the ladder HappyG(rrr)!

I love the technical bit but I don't do much running on that section!

You'll love it damo, it's an excellent race.

I'm sure I'll love having done it - bit daunted at the prospect at the moment. First to get a marathon out of the way and then can take to the hills for some training.

I'm planning to recce Beinglas - Inversnaid - Beinglas, mainly due to access. Is this the 'worst' (funnest/scrambliest) bit? Is it worth going a few miles past Inversnaid? Wouldn't want more than 20 miles all together.
