mrs s - The Devil is full for this year. We may have already looked :-)

I love the idea of the WHW race and if it was a traditional ultra not requiring support crews I'd have done it already. However having seen what a fantastically well organised even the Fling was, and how good the scenery is, I'm now considering it anyway. It just depends if we can the people - as I'd expect we'd both want to do it.

I don't need much convincing to take my bike to the WHW. I'm sure I could make myself useful while I was up there...... I've not run more than 55 miles, but I have done 40 hour bike events so have some sort of idea, ish.

You may live to regret saying that ;-) You're just the kind of stubborn sod I'd need on a support crew - someone to tell me MTFU and get shifting.

One of the marshals did that at the weekend when I was trying to drop at half way. It went something like, 'neck some painkillers, man up, and get out of me effing checkpoint'. I owe her a lot of thanks :-)

Good stuff! The WHW race is also extremely well organised and the beautiful crystal goblet you receive at the end is a thing to treasure.

FR out of my 5 Fling finishes the very first was the quickest! Maybe I'm just getting old

Mrs S, my first attempt was my quickest as well!! And got slower year-on-year since.

However, I think flanker is onto something.

In March 2016 I ran a PB at 50k.

In early April I ran a 50-mile PB.

And I've never run two 50-milers in one calendar month before.

Perhaps I went to the well once too many times and found it dry!!!!

Flanker, would that have been at Rowardennan by any chance? It sounds remarkably like something I'd expect from the lead marshal there.... ;-)

Yes to WHW... I'm sure you'd pick up some crews, that's one volunteer already....
