Lil, there's a lot of talk on FB that it's not actually full, but will only take bookings for 2/3 nights. Which folks are doing with the intention of then cancelling the unnecessary nights nearer the time

Yep. Both Milngavie and Bearsden available if you book Fri/Sat/Sun, but not for Fri/Sat or Fri only. Greedy beggars

I booked the Fri/Sat ages ago as it's easier for me driving up from England and having a soft bed to crash into on Saturday night rather than sleeping in my car or a tent

For this year's race, I tried the Milngavie PI a few times between race opening and April but it was full.
Eventually, some people cancelled rooms due to pulling out of the race and I grabbed the Friday night.
I was originally going to drive up to Tyndrum, park there and get the train back to Glasgow / Milngavie, stay at the PI, do the race and sleep in my car afterwards. Ultimately, it didn't seem that practical driving 50 some miles further to Tyndrum and spending ages backtracking using trains so I asked if Saturday night was available and booked that and the bus back from Tyndrum after the race at registration.
Best decision I think. Apart from the 1h30 bus ride back and a 10 min walk from the railway station to the hotel, having a hot shower and a soft bed was bliss! I was freezing after the race and it was too cold to even contemplate the Ceilidh.

Duchess - I would happily pay for Fri/Sat, but not Sunday too. Although after the 'drama' of last time I'm not sure I can face it at all!

Although the bus driver did drop me off outside the PI because I was on my own and didn't want to walk from the station at 11.30 at night!

I didn't even think about booking a room yet as I thought people would wait and see if they manage to get in the race first! Guess I have a lot to learn. Is there a listing of recommended places to stay?
