the casquette yes, the cabbage leaf no. I could try and lie that I said yes to get a reaction but frankly I was trying to do 2 things at once and missed the cabbge leaf part. Thankfully the other thing I was doing at the same time I devoted more attention but I am going back to it to make sure that I haven't dropped a bollock there as well.

I'm growing into the casquette thing since the alternatives are (a) riding blind, or (b) putting a visor on my helmet and receiving torrents of abuse from club mates.

I'm not sure anyone really has done the cabbage thing. Sounds very, very unlikely.

Casquette went under the road helmet from about now until the end of March. I have always worn glasses/prescription Os while cycling. I tried contacts but I just couldn't get along with them. It has always kept the rain off my glass lens with the occasional thumb wipe as needed.
In the very cold I have a couple of thermal casquettes that cover the ears, ariostea branded so you can see how old they are, and they are fantastic. In dry cold I have a couple of ear muff things that have velcro fitting or elasticated and they too are good.
As I now mostly ride on trails or off-road I have a visor thing on the front of the helmet so I have taken the plastic stiffener out of the casquette visor bit and wear it back to front, it keeps my neck warmer than it otherwise would. I may look a bit of a tool but frankly I care not.

Different fish really, PoDderoo. A casquette (at least in my case) is work for the peak rather more than for the hat to which it is attached.

I am grasping this from reading links and reading in here. Never understood the hats thing but then I may appreciate more if my eyesight continues to get worse.

About This Thread

A rusty lock-up/garage/hut in the grounds of the Hotel Bastardos, we are a small cycling club and yet also a broad church.

Pull up a chair, get a cup of tea and a slice of slightly stale cake and settle down.

Welcome to the old skool. Founded 2012.
