No need to worry about missing numbers yet (I hope), I live less than 1.5miles from the organisers office and I haven't received my number yet either! Let me know your time target and number and I'll update the sidebar with details. |

Posted this on the Sub 4 marathon thread. Still not sure on whether to aim for a sub 4 or not yet. Did my final long run yesterday ahead of Manchester Marathon and need to decide whether I have it in me for a sub 4. I think my splits yesterday suggest it is possible, but my previous marathon experiences were I blew up in both resulting in a soft marathon PB (compared to other distances) of 4:54 make me a bit nervous at going out too fast. My splits yesterday (Strava splits which don't account for stopping very briefly every five miles to take on water and pick up new gel that stashed at start of the loop): 1: 9:13 2: 9:18 3: 9:28 4: 9:24 5: 9:26 6: 9:12 7: 9:25 8: 9:41 9: 9:28 10: 9:27 11: 9:24 12: 9:28 13: 9:21 14: 9:17 15: 9:06 16: 8:55 17: 9:02 18: 9:09 19: 9:18 20: 9:27 I went out faster than I had planned. Was going to go closer to 10min/mi, but thought I would try and hold it as long as possible. Pushed it on a bit from 14 miles where I went faster than MP. However, I was really pushing it in the last two miles to hold on to the pace I had been hitting throughout the run. This will be the fastest 20 miles I have ran by a good distance, but not sure if I can hold onto a faster pace for 26.2miles. I could go off slower and still get a PB, but sub 4 would is the time I want really. |

Bob!
PeeG Just looked at your recent training. I'd be looking at Sub4 with that training. Meanwhile, I'll be hoping to scrape a sub 4.30 |

Priorities time. I'm running with a mate who is retiring from marathon running after his 10th marathon at GM. I intend celebrating on his behalf. Did we agree on a tavern for post run revelry?

I was told a couple of months ago at the Runner Need marathon information evening that there would be an after race party on the rooftop pitch of Hotel Football hotelfootball.com However, given there's been no information from the organisers about this to date, then I wonder whether it is going to go ahead. In that case I suggest The Bishop Blaize https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/The+Bishop+Blaize/@53.4618805,-2.2895054,17z/data=!4m6!1m3!3m2!1s0x0:0x6c930e96df4455fe!2sOld+Trafford!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xc841591c8ebe5582 which is literally round the corner from the finish just after the 26-mile marker? |

This will be lucky marathon no. 26 and I'm aiming for sub 3:15 this year. I did 3:42 last year but my training has been a lot better this time around. Bring. It. On! |

Thanks Bob. I don't think I have done enough training, but never been the best of trainers. Despite not feeling it is enough I have done more than what I usually do. Confidence isn't there as had back injuries last two years which has seen me lose my fitness and not had a race this year that I can judge where I am at. And thanks Nelly for putting me as a sub 4. Don't think you will let me focus on anything less than that will you? |
