BEx-the parking is fine it's the getting out afterwards that's the problem. It can take you longer than doing the race!

Mykey's right ! I think it was 2009 and I ran the race in 1:17, but took just under 3 hours to get out of the car park and onto the road out of Portsmouth. No exaggeration there either.

Bex66 - parking is still right next to the start. I've done it 2 years running now, never had a problem getting out of the car park.

Does anyone have experience of getting to the GSR from the Isle of Wight? I'm planning to get the Cat from Ryde - I hope that's a sensible plan?

lazydaisy - Never done it but I know you can get a hover bus from Ryde to Southsea. Southsea terminal is close to the start. Click on the link for info about travel route and times and see if that's any use to you hovertravel.co.uk

Thanks PLB I have booked tickets on the Wightlink cat now as the walk from Portsmouth Harbour - less than 2 miles? will give me time to settle my pre-race nerves - I hope!! Also my non-running companions may want to have a look around the Historic Dockyard etc before we go back to the Island, so it seemed the best option.

I'm really looking forward to this run. Ten miles is a much nicer distance than a Half-marathon!

I seem to remember there being a lack of toilets around the course last year.

Oh no! After my nasty Royal Parks Run that isn't good! I don't remember it being a problem at the GSR though.

I'm assuming I'll be in the green wave so should have lots of time to queue for the loos :-)

I just hope this scheme of relying on Wightlink to get us there will work.

Bex maybe we'll finish together - the only 10 mile race I've done so far was off-road and I did 1:46, so I'm hoping for an improvement *crosses fingers and toes*
