Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

LOL. Not the first time, I'll bet. ;-)

Buzby - no-one is suggesting GFA times should be literally the same time for both M and F. I think SOD proposed that they should be the same *WAVA* - so an example would be 3:16 for a 40yo M and 3:47 for a 40yo F then. And I think SOD observed that the WAVA performance required across the range of ages, and between the geneders, wasn't a very level playing field in some situation.

Your example shows that it's slightly favoured to women at the 40yo level. I don't have the time to go find the tables right now, but if 3:16 (M) = 3:47 (F), then the old 3:10 (M) is equivalent to 3:40-3:41 probably (F), and the current 3:05 (M) must equal around 3:35 (F). Compared to the actual 40yo GFA for women of 3:45.

But I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just a thing.

Should be first past the post.....first 35,000 over the line get a spot the next year if they want it. If they dont take it up then its a ballot. Sorted :-)

Lol to Baz! That would give you a massive entry fee at the very least.. Charity runners do subsidise gfa because the charities pay up to £500 for the place!

Agree with PtB's analysis re: the times being about the best balance for vlm in terms of times and gender split. I'm pleased to see the open age women's times get tougher, hopefully that's indicative of improving standards.

I suspect they are running a bit slow due to volume of entries, in that, previously the system was post off bit of paper, paper arrives into office a few a day, now its all done online, all 3000 or whatever are popping in at once. A few peeps on the 3:15 thread who applied on Monday had heard I think :)
