Indeed. And I know what my body feels like when it's at, say, 40 miles and I've got 'good' hurt/fatigue as opposed to any 'bad' hurt/fatigue - the last thing I want to do is overcook it and be out of the game for a month or something. If this was a point-to-point race I'd be bricking it, but the fact there's a party every 2 miles makes it seem a lot more manageable!

I'm definitely not in any fit shape for this - I've not run in a fortnight and I've only run 90 miles in total since the Fling back in April. I was going to give it a miss completely but TripletMum and the kids are away in Yorkshire for the weekend so I may as well be in Glenmore as sitting alone in the house by myself so I expect I may enjoy the pirate party more then originally intended and then do what I can on Saturday - 20 to 25 miles at most and then help to marshall and encourage everyone else. What expense are folks going to with the pirate fancy dress stuff? I don't weant to spend money on an outfit and then find out most people have a home made eye patch and just shout aaargh a lot |

I will probably be in the home-made-eye-patch-and-not-shouting-aaargh-very-much camp. However, I am quite sure that there will be people there who will put much work and/or expense into it.

Am so excited for this! If I do manage to make any of Friday night, I'll be waving by pink pirate flag (but as I'm not sleeping well this week, and want to feel half human, it will probably be a case of set-up, wolf down tea somewhere, then bed!) Feeling like I've done very little over the past month or so, and that I don't want to bugger it by doing much this week! |

Someone on FB said they were packed already last night. Aaargh! Just charging batteries at the mo, doing washing, buying boxes in which to *do* packing, but actually packed?! Nah! Food shop prob tonight. Also need racing hair cut (do any other guys do that - hate having any more hair than necessary in a race - it's just one more thing I just don't need!) G

I had a haircut on Saturday as I won't get time this week, it's a good feeling to have it nice and short. I've got lots of lists and done most of my food shop, just need to get some fresher food stuffs tomorrow night. Might pack my race kit tonight and see what else I can organise. I've never done a race with online tracking before! racesplitter.com |

How does that work Sjjh? Are they going to be manually adding in distance (4 mile x number of laps) on to that site? How often? Every lap for every runner? Cool if so. G

I'm not sure how often it will be updated they said they would update at the timing station as well. Depends a lot on internet connection up there, they may update every hour but can only really report full laps completed with the rest to follow at the end. |
