Idles are one of the bands that I feel I really should like given otherwise similar tastes with people who like them, but I really can't find a way to enjoy them.

I've probably been unlucky, but both times I've seen them the majority of the fans seem to be a a bunch of beered-up, middle-aged, wannabe-thugs who probably don't get out much.

Idles are utterly superb live and probably are one these best live bands in the UK at moment. It gets a little rough but as the T-shirts says "I'm not fighting, I am dancing". I bet there are pissed up middle aged twats at Simply Red gigs.

I took a left turn at the weekend and watched The Skints and had a jolly reggae ska jig about, although there were plenty of pissed up types. In contrast to Bess Atwell on Thursday who was marvellous but everyone was very quiet.

Just don't do anything for me Chiefy, live or recorded. Luckily there are many bands who do, far too many to see them all, so it's not a problem :-)

Crowd were fine on Friday. Lively enough at front but you could get your own space if you stepped back. Saw a clip from the Saturday night and looked a bit more mental. i would have been right in about 20 years ago, happy to be on the peripheral now :)

Pip Blom was excellent on Thursday in Nottingham. It must be a bit bewildering for young Dutch kids t ha they come to the U.K. and are playing a to a room full of mainly Middle Ages blokes. Aka, The 6 music crowd.

A bit of Aussie Power pop on Thursday, going with my daughter to see Stand Atlantic, mainly because she is a big fan of the support act, Lauren Hibberd.
