It ain't doom and gloom. It is realism. I love that we won. But that was not a world beating performance. Sterling could have gone from Hero to Zero with that terrible backwards pass. And that Germany team wasn't all that. Any team reliant on Werner ain't going to score many goals. |

How often did Greece put in a worldbeating performance when they won it? Or Denmark? Or even Portugal last time? I'd also add that I agree totally that it wasn't a great Germany, but they were still the opposition and we beat them. We don't have to be the best ever, or even the best in the tournament. We just have to be the better of the two teams on the pitch 3 more times, and we only have to be better by one goal. That's all. If you think about it Germany's reputation in England is based on them regularly beating England teams that weren't all that.;-) |

Nor do any of the other teams that have ever won it. Who did Greece have? Who do Denmark have? Who do Spain have? What about Switzerland? Sterling is the second highest scorer left in the competition. Not bad for a bloke who can’t hit a barn door and nearly (but somehow didn’t) cost us the game. |

The Euro's do have a habit of producing unexpected winners whereas the World Cup seems to go to the expected group.

FR - you seem to have had a complete about turn on Sterling who previously could not be criticised but now can do no right ! I am only gutted that the Sterling we have in Scotland is a furniture store sterlingfurniture.co.uk |

And before I get carried away I’m not saying we’re going to win it. I’m saying we could. We can. It’s a decent chance this time round, more so than almost any other time I can remember (‘96 maybe, and we didn’t get that far without a big slice of luck anyway). But we’re good enough to beat anyone on the day. |
