Flu Jabs

Sazzahazza Oct 2011 5:57pm, 8 Oct 2011 124 posts	0 Sazzahazza I'm after a bit of advice, my work have arranged for us to have a Flu Jab on Monday and i initially thought it would be a good idea, but then I started to think that I have never had flu, never really get a cold and am pretty healthy all year round. I'm now reading that there can be side effects to the jab and I have a marathon next Sunday, so I'm thinking why bother with it and not to jinx any lurgies which could effect my race next week. I had a chest infection as well about 3wks ago and suffer with Asthma (which is normally controlled with puffers). Has any one had any bad side effects? would you recommend having the jab...? Thanks in advance!

I would definitely have it, but perhaps wait until after the race if you're really worried. It's not a live vaccine so it shouldn't cause any problems.

If you can wait til after the race do. But definitely have the jab. Flu plus asthma could be a nasty combination.

So how come 3 days later I came down with a flu that knocked me out for 10 days? I'm not convinced. If it's free - have it, but I'd wait till after the race personally.
