In which case it was the Benfleet 15 but sampled (some) of the Benfleet pubs the night before. Have to say that none of the pubs I have visited in that part of the world strike me as particular 'gems' but perhaps I just don't know where to find them (or perhaps I am just spoilt coming from Suffolk)

It's a nice 6 mile run along the canal and around Attenborough nature reserve. The thought of a pint does wonders for my speed training!. I went there last Friday and they had 16 real ales and 2 ciders on. I think the Lion still does the cheap chilli night. Off to the Lincolnshire Poacher again tonight.
Baronessbl Jan 2009 10:21pm, 29 Jan 2009 196 posts	0 Baronessbl Mad Old John (Mill Green Brewery) - dark, quite sweet 4.2 ABV- pretty good Mid Winter Gold (Mauldons) 4.5 ABV- lighter - very nice Winter Lightning (Iceni) 5 ABV - even better all available at the Ipswich Winter Ales festival this weekend and plenty more too
