Apologies for crashing the thread... but does anybody have an opinion on Keswick climbing walls? Kong or the one by the stone circle?
I'm thinking of an introductory training thing, for 2 adults; a never-climbed-ever, and a climbed-Corvus-in-1981-in-the-rain.
Or is Carlisle, or even Newcastle a better bet?

Kong is very good, Jacdaw. We go there quite a lot because it's our closest wall. Plenty of lead walls, up to 14m (though most are 8m/12m), several autobelays and a reasonable bouldering space. The wall up by the stone circle isn't nearly as good. If you were thinking of travelling fairly locally, you couldn't do better than Kendal.

Thanks, V'rap. I think it will be Kong or the Newcastle one, depending on the weather. I was planning to go for my birthday at the end of the month, and the weather can be variable!

Early start pretty much guarantees my kids won't come.

Looking at the weather forecast, we'll probably be at Kendal tomorrow.
