Beautiful photographs. I went back along the river today to the spot where I had spotted kingfishers on my last two visits. This time, I took my bins with me. You've guessed. Nada. Some very noisy sedge warbler activity was going on, though. |

Nice little colony of kittiwakes on the cliffs at Saltburn today. Sounded like one pair were laughing at us! Possibly a little auk too. And less so birdy were the array of hermit crabs in the rockpools on the beach. |

Just looked out the window and Anthony (tawny owl) was sitting on a branch. Saw him clear as anything for about 10 seconds before he flew away.

Fascinating listening to a garden warbler today, like a chatty blackbird on speed.

I heard the tell-tale call of baby woodpeckers this morning while out on a walk. Waited for a few mins close to the tree and saw a parent zip in a couple of time with food. Didn’t stay too long as the parent spotted me skulking close by.

Especially for Red Squirrel - here's your namesake from my recent stay at Center Parcs near Whinfell in Cumbria. I spent a couple of mornings watching some very lively squirrels running up and down trees along one of the walk ways. One even scrabbled around the tree I had my back to and was right by my head! |

Aw thanks Scribbler. Can’t see the photo at the moment, but can visualise those tufty little lovelies. How amazing to have one scrabbling around at head level. <3
