It's also getting pretty late for Yellows? Especially as far north as Northumberland which is pretty much the limit of their range north.

Bit of a Dipper day for me. I was out at dawn checking the markers for a trail race and the time combined with the weather meant I had Wolfscote and Beresford Dales to myself. 5km alongside the River Dove yielded 5 Dippers (I think I heard more but didn't stop at all for careful watching) and 3 Herons. Nice to have the place entirely to myself despite the rain.

Don't know really, we spent ages googling both and watching videos of them in flight and came to the conclusion yellow rather than grey, but could easily be wrong 😀

The call is a good clincher. Yellows only have a single " dzwee" flight call , very unlike Grey or Pied. Yellows will often call their single " dzwee" on passage. Nothing is impossible in the bird world though ...

Dipper envy from me😁
We've got a pair of grey wagtails that are regulars at the moment, they seem to like our roof.
Keep looking out for Curlew in the fields, but none strayed up from the estuary yet
One surprising regular is a heron. In the field most days, I usually expect to see them on river banks and the like

They like to eat frogs and invertebrates in fields, bonners. Partial to the odd vole, too, if they can catch one.

Cheers, they have been feeding, do wondered what on
We also get regular buzzards in the field, presume they're mainly feeding on worms

I found some pellets last winter with the remains of big moth larvae in them; they were probably buzzard pellets. But I agree, worms are most likely.

Red Squirrel
Pied wagtail today. It's been a while since I've seen one. A grey flew over while I was watching it.
