Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Bronze in the mixed 4 x 400m relay. Probably should have been silver but for a poor baton change on the last leg. Dutch win was never in doubt.

He won't have the lights if he's away from the champs record if they don't start up for at least 500m.

Obviously I seem to have a different view to others, but I genuinely think in champs races where the goal is simply to win there won't be any advantage to anyone with the lights.

But we'll see this weekend if how it all pans out. If there is a champs that can be treated as a throw away comp where things can be useful tested, the euro indoors is the one.

It doesn't matter when they won't have them, it matters that they can have them and they are a benefit that they know they can have and can base decisions off. We don't say pacers aren't an advantage in a race just because sometimes racers don't use them. Also the lights being off is feedback if your target means they should be on.

Here's Tom Keen on his race, and how it surged to get back on the lights when they came on. It's so obvious that this could happen that it's laughable.

Can't argue with direct feedback like that. Though I'll try (you know me!).

As a spectator I think they are great; wonder if there is some way of having lights visible only to the TV cameras by using filtered light? Or visible only to the spectators in the stadium from the opposite side of the track, so the athletes don't see them?

I still think it's an interesting experiment; needs evaluating at the end of the meeting.

The men's wasn't much better. Very messy first heat and I'm surprised that Randolph hasn't been advanced in place of the Swiss runner who caused the chaos.

I am shocked that Randolph ended up with a warning, totally unfair.

Now Anning has been DQ'd. Are today's officials anti-British are something?

Poor girl's in tears! Touched the inside line five times. I always thought indoor athletics as tough. Narrower lanes, tight inside lanes and steeped bends.
