The mid innings were ok but the closer had a shocker. Leg byes and 5 wides in the last innings turned a 1 run lead into a massive deficit

NCAA gonna NCAA…

“Former LSU coach Les Miles is suing the school for vacating wins in response to an NCAA infractions case, a move that dropped Miles below the threshold for College Football Hall of Fame qualification”

I'm sure he knew nothing about the infractions. Nothing at all... nothing to see... move along.

Yep. NCAA is the purest form of sport. Coaches and athletes interested only in the pursuit of excellence- the very embodiment of the amateur ethos.

Willie Mays has died. Maybe second to Babe Ruth as GOAT?

When Joe Posnanski wrote his wonderful top 100 series a few back here was his top 10 (which I wouldn't argue with - and I think there are a number of right ways to order these guys):

1. Willie Mays
2. Babe Ruth
3. Barry Bonds
4. Henry Aaron
5. Oscar Charleston
6. Ted Williams
7. Walter Johnson
8. Ty Cobb
9. Stan Musial
10. Satchel Paige

I’d put Mays above Ruth too. The Mays story has been beautifully told many times (why does baseball get all the best writers?). With Ruth it’s hard to extract the story from the legend and the sound bite.
