There's a desperation not to have a repeat of last season with the spectacular blow up at the end. The 'win now' approach means that come the 2025 season it's going to be a mess with no emerging talent pool. |

The franchise has a much shorter memory than even the most casual of fans. I remember making the playoffs in 2020 being feted as one of the greatest triumphs in living memory - it was seen as an end in itself - there was never, as I recall, any suggestion that even making the NLCS was the ultimate goal.
