A bit surprised by Cam Newton going to the Patriots. At least it shows that the Patriots have a short-term plan, rather than dropping back for a few years and rebuilding via the draft.

Newton should have a few years left if he's fit. The question TBH was why wouldn't the Patriots sign him? What's the downside?

There isn’t one. The alternative was too ugly to think about.

Disappointing lack of love for the AHL in here. Just me then :)

I'm no expert on the AHL, but I know a few things about the Binghamton Devils. Though I haven't been to a game there since the days of the B. Sens. Or an Albany game since the River Rats.

I think my niece's partner reached AHL level a few years back, but I don't know who for. The franchise locations and affiliations are pretty difficult to follow!
