Also just noticed he kicked a 59 yarder in the game. Doesn't make sense. I guess getting the first down kills the game, but the field goal making it an 8 point game pretty much does the same.

I rate Boswell - sounds (given the block) like the O-line / kicking team may have struggled. We've got a recently-returned holder which won't have helped.

Gilbert looked decent for a fourth-stringer - defnitely better than some backups (e.g. Duck!) on the field recently...

But I agree - I would definitely have gone for the FG. I think, looking back, that Romo and Tomlin must have thought that the chance of making a 4th and 1 was statistically better than making the FG. Given the state of our running game tonight, I don't concur...

Today’s LA Times:

“The Chargers are 2-6 overall, 1-6 with Herbert as their starting quarterback.

By now, it’s clear Herbert isn’t the quarterback of a team that’s cursed or an underachieving team that can’t hold leads.

He’s the quarterback of a team that’s not very good, if not downright awful.”

NFC Least currently taking up the bottom 3 spots in the extended NFC layoff standings. Eagles would be 10/16 if not for divisional lead

Decent showing by Dallas. Again, too many trips to the red zone without finding pay dirt.

The game was still in the balance until Q4. A few big penalty calls didn't help at key stages (incomplete pass when 3rd and 10 and the fumble return) which gave possession back to the Steelers.

Gilbert isn't a confidence-inspiring QB who could lead you on a two-minute drill game -winning drive. The season is long over, despite all the NFC East teams being poor. Forget the play-offs. Get Dak back asap and build for 2021 with some good top order draft picks.

Dak is a free agent at the end of the year and the Cowboys can only guarantee having him with a one year franchise tag of 37m.

If they got the #1 pick, would they be better getting a rookie QB at ~37m for 4 years and saving the cap to spend elsewhere...

Agree, SP - the zebras seem to like us this season (c/w the last couple of years). I'll balance that against the fact that I've seen players excluded for that Vander Esch punch/slap before... :)

On the upside for you, Dallas don't look like a 2-7 team based on last night's showing - and the Eagles are only 1.5 games ahead...

Could say the same about the Eagles against the Steelers and the Ravens, then they played poorly against the Giants and Cowboys.
