Pakistan need to make up about 400 runs on NZ.
NZ need to pull their finger out, or Friday's game gets interesting.

I was happy, then I read TRO’s post and now I feel like I’ll never be able to rely on anything in my life

If my maths is correct, even if NZ slump to 150ao in 30 overs, they'd have a NRR of -0.365-ish.
Pakistan, if they batted first and scored 400 in 50 overs and then bowled Bangladesh ao for 0 in 2 overs would still have a NRR of -0.43-ish.
I'm sure someone could unpick that and prove me wrong, but I don't think there is any way that Pakistan could create a credible score that would shift their NRR enough. I could just be doing the maths wrong though.

TMS pretty much said it was impossible yesterday.
Talk of England being behind run rate, hence the spinners, don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory though...

Have you factored in that NZs 150ao is counted as 150 in 50 overs for NRR Calc. Was discussed on TMS, otherwise a side could fiddle their NRR by going Harry Blatters at 12 an over regardless of lost wickets when a match was lost.
Hence you see losing sides very conscious of batting out the 50.

Calculation I saw on one of the cricket sites was that if NZ are out for 150, Pakistan would need to win by 280.
