Qualification to the knock-out requires out-scoring the wildcard. If the wildcard 'wins' a pool or dramatically over-performs it goes through to the knockouts, otherwise it is discarded.

'I didn't know you could count Boycey...' OFAH did stray off piste into soap territory in later series, and it was a disaster after they got rich but it was a great sitcom IMO, quality of the supporting characters especially good. Not top 4/superdeath good, but worthier than the rest of the filth in that pool...
