Chocolate sponge with Chocolate custard

I thought I remembered ours accompanied by pink custard. But I might be wrong. I am getting on a bit now…

Did we used to get pears in chocolate sauce? Or am I confusing it with 1990s army rat packs?

I really don't much care for Bakewell tart - or pudding for that matter. Just saying.

Ahem. “The starch content of bananas (Musa acuminata, “Cavendish”) has been reported to change from approximately 21 g/100g in unripe fruit to approximately 1 g/100g in fully ripe fruit [11]. During ripening there is a decrease in enzyme-resistant starch [12] and an increase in water-soluble pectin

And custard powder is almost all cornflour (starch)!
