Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

50! Let me count the ways.

Will probably finish Opus Brunneis this afternoon. It’s been a blast!

90 pages in to Robinson Crusoe. There is a lot of moralising and doom signalling - i was soon to find out how wrong I was - but this was nothing to the horrors that were yet to befall me -
Now he’s on his island im settling in with him but I can see why I’ve never made it past 20 pages before

Ooh, I've read that. And yes, there is a lot of moralising.

just in case anybody's interested (I know I'm too late, and I don't need anybody to pick one for me) my current physical TBR pile amounts to 126, but I managed to round up 86 of them for a photo-shoot:

I have 2 ways in which I select next from pile:
Lucky Dip - which most recently selected Max Frisch's "I'm Not Stiller" (see if you can spot it!), and
Buggins Turn (longest waiting in pile) which next 3 are Moorcock's "Mother London", Richard Price's "Clockers" and... "Black And Blue" - so good shout Dio!

I love that Max Frisch, but Homo Faber is better.
