Finished seven killings. A relief. A couple of the voices I really liked but he was as interested in exploring Jamaican men’s attitude to homosexuality as the growth of gangs to New York and Bob Marley’s attempted assassination, which made for a somewhat turgid read.

Then I probably have read it; I read a lot of Ray Bradbury at one time. Also Isaac Asimov.

Armitage is slowly winning me over, Bradbury not so much so. I think I shall return F451 to the fireproof vaults of Audible before my ears spontaneously self-combust.

I think that SA book may suffer from being a follow up to a successful first one (Walking Home) where he did the Pennine Way North to South. Walking Away might seem a bit more artificial as the expedition was set up in part to create the conditions for the sequel. Again, I think Armitage is pretty honest about this though. He says as much in the Intro...
