Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, I thought 'Here's looking at you, Portsmouth' was an inspiring ending.

In case anyone's interested, here's a route for the 'Bedford Ouse Bridges Challenge'. It's a round trip, so could be made shorter if end to end, and even shorter by chopping off the villages on the end. It doesn't do the ford (which is in Clapham) as the wisdom of the internet suggests that crossing in anything other than the driest of summers is unnecessarily 'brave'. The route also gets a bit messy in the middle of town as (a) it's quite hard to know what actually counts as the river and (b) there's some development work which means there's no path on one side. Happy to act as tour guide (and taxi).

I'm even more tempted by the idea of having to be unnecessarily brave
