Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Proper Job is bottled conditioned so yes should be better than in a can. Not sure I have ever had it in a can though. But I agree with Nicholls that draught would be better still.

Number 5 on my draught/cask list tonight pint Brewers Gold from Crouch Vale. Former Champion Beer of Britain. There was nothing wrong with the pint I had but I would put money that they either have a new head brewer, or they have moved the brewery to a different location or they have tweaked the recipe. It was not quite the Brewers Gold that I know and love.

On the bottled list number 8 a White Peroni 0.0% Not bad for an alcohol free but as expensive as a Red Peroni with alcohol which doesn't seem right to me

Adding: Whippet (Harvieston); Orange Pale Ale (Citrus City/Lidl); Welcome to Vermont (Hilden X Flavourly); The 1079 Project pilsner (Aldi); Duvel Blond; Time To Fly (Loch Lomond X Flavourly); OOFT Peach Blond (First Chop); Proper Job (St Austell.

Sixteen so far: probably more, but not certain which were this year, and which before.

I've added Orkney's Northern Light this evening (and the bottled PJ, but I'm not sure if I can count that as separate?)

Northern Light is my least favourite Orkney Brewery product, but still acceptable. Especially after the Hoy Half Marathon.

Bipassed a couple of bottles of Dark Island in the fridge tonight to go for a Belhaven 80'. Probably the first decent beer I drank in my youth after being tied to the hideous combination of McEwans Export and Tartan Special.

The thing I could never understand about McEwans Export was why TAF it was still here. FFS min, it even says it on the tin Export the bloody stuff!! McEwans, Tartan and Tennents - dark days indeed.

I would agree with your sentiments on Northern Light too. I'm sure they've changed the recipe. It was a disappointment tonight, for sure. Belhaven's on my shopping list. :)

About This Thread

Maintained by Ocelot Spleens
and here we are in 2025....

I still really like a pint.

I think this is not too controversial health wise, besides it's quality I prefer not volume.

Lots of beers about these days. I interpret it as different beers within 2025, and you can, if you like; avoid beers you have had before, but as ever the list is yours to do what you like.

Also interesting to see how variable local areas are!
