Though having said that, team sports with strong regional or "empire" based histories do have a little more bias than individual ones.

It is T20, so games last about 3 hours. No reason why teams can't play every other day (travel permitting), so could get a decent tournament in during the 2 and a half weeks. Not sure how Great Britain team will be selected, I mean with all due respect, if it isn't just England, then something isn't right |

And for anyone moaning about cricket being included, I believe baseball (rounders) is also going to be played

Olympic Cricket will suffer from the same problem that baseball/ softball have - the need for unusual venues. |

Cricket is like golf to me, it's got its own set of what's the pinnacle so don't really care for it in the Olympics. Baseball at least could be developing a world game and presumably that's the point of it being in the LA games. |

I don't really agree with the concept that if the Olympics isn't the pinnacle, then the sport shouldn't be in. I understand why people feel that way, but I prefer to see the Olympics as a global showcase for the plethora of sport around the world, and would rather have golf, tennis, soccer, basketball etc in the Games than excluded from them. I think tennis has found it's way with this; the grand slam contenders truly want to win the Olympic gold, and I think some of the golfers are tending that way too. For the golf though I'd prefer to see a "team" event, tbh, either instead of or supplementing the individual title; add something different. Tennis has that to a degree as it forces doubles partnerships from consistent countries. Football needs to sort it's stuff out though and find a way of abandoning the U23+ format. Maybe 5-a-side would be a better format for it? Allow it to be represented as a sport, but not "risk" dethroning the world cup as the big event. |

I'd rather see something like netball that would benefit from the growth potential if introducing new sports. Cricket is fine, so are golf, football and tennis. I do like the concept of something different so rugby sevens for example.

I always thought baseball went on for half a day and ended up 2-1? Is there a T20 type shorter version? |
