The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
I took part in my first race at school aged 11, 100 metres and I came last, behind two girls I knew I was faster than. Despite the fact that later that week I was diagnosed with diabetes, the fact that I was last has stayed with me ever since. In 2002 I met my BF and on our first date he told me that normally that night he would have been at the Long Eaton Running Club and he mentioned he had done a couple of half marathons amongst other races and I thought he was mad! However after meeting several of his friends from LERC I noticed that they were thin (always an ambition of mine) and that they weren't all Whippets so on moving offices I started running in my lunch hour. My ambition was to do the Long Eaton 5 and suprise my BF on the day. In the end I asked him to take me for a 5 mile run the week before. I did the race unfortunately though I had twisted my pelvis the weekend before, so that meant I had to walk a couple of times due to the pain. Since then I have I have completed several races and finally did a half marathon in September 2005 raising money for Diabetes UK and I was over 3 hours ahead of the last person. This year has been a bit of a disastor due to Hamstring problem and twisted pelvis but I will keep trying.
