The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
The GNR, my 3rd running of the event. Surprises me everytime how undulating the course is. The rain and wind weren't ideal for the 2nd half but much better than expected.
Was wound up at the start and for the first few miles, but settled down and enjoyed it. Crowded all along the course with runners, but to be expected. The crowds on the road were impressive especially given the weather.
Managed to get my sub 1:40 but only just. Was on for 1:38 or so at times, but the expected fade occurred, but I managed to bring it home along the seafront.
This was my biggest mileage block in the 13 weeks leading up to it, and that is saying something with it being my 17th Half Marathon.
Since my PB at the GNR in Sept 11 I have run a disappointing 1:58 at Southend in June 12, and improved ever since with 1:44 at Silverstone in the spring of this year and then 1:43 at Southend this summer. Today's 1:39 continues the improvement trend. Will look to build on my good base, and target a good time at Great Bentley in February before a spring Marathon.

Fantastic run Simon, 20 minutes off last year's time, well done!

Top work Si, knew you would come under 1.40 and I think in slightly better conditions...in a less populated race that was flatter it would be much nearer 1.35. I hope that you can continue to put together the solid training you are doing. I stand by the fact that you could run some real quick times with the ability you have. I think throw in some speed work in the next few weeks and you might well dip under 20 mins in York as well.
