Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Melbourne City to Sea 14km

Target one was to average 5:30 (1hr 17m)which may have been a bit ambitious given no running for 3 weeks, target 2 was 1hr 20 and so I'll happily settle for 1:22

No navigational problems and arrived in plenty of time, very well organised, pre start we had The Last Post bugled which was quite moving although no-one really gave it much respect! Started great, I'd made the wrong decision to run without a water bottle and the heat had got to me by 7k. Managed to run and drink from a cup through the first water station but walked through the second (9k) and the third (12k) to make sure I took on enough. Struggled through the last 2k to see Mick on the final corner but not soon enough for a decent sprint finish. Enjoyed the race which was mostly flat with some gentle declines and good expo afterwards. Then spent the day with all the beautiful people on Sk Kilda beach and promenade. Only downside was there was no changing facilities after the race and so for the first time in my life I ended up completly naked in a public toilet getting changed!

No calf issues so hopefully all sorted. Training will now focus on warm weather training which is clearly causing me an issue!

Well done :-) A lovely way to finish the race at the beach. Don't think running to sunny Hunny would be quite the same!
